Vibeke Jakobsen mainly works with analysis of education and employment conditions for immigrants and their descendants, analysis of poverty among elderly immigrants, evaluation of social housing interventions and analysis of vulnerable neighbourhoods. Her analyses are based on quantitative data and methods.

Methods

Vibeke Jakobsen carries out quantitative empirical analyses based on registry and survey data, for instance registry data from Statistics Denmark, The Ministry of Employment and STIL. In addition to carrying out analyses based on survey data, she also develops questions for use in questionnaires, which are used in data collection. These questions can be either for progression measurements or larger surveys, which are linked to registry data and used for analysis and research assignments.

Background

Vibeke Jakobsen started working for SFI, now VIVE, in late 1999. She has a PhD from 2004. Her PhD dissertation focused on educational, employment and wage conditions for young immigrants from the former Yugoslavia, Turkey and Pakistan. Since then, Vibeke Jakobsen has carried out several projects on educational and employment conditions for immigrants and descendants in Denmark, in the former SFI and now VIVE. She has also worked with analysis of couple formation among immigrants and descendants and the effects of the changes in the rules regarding family reunification, and poverty among elderly immigrants. In addition to research in integration, Vibeke Jakobsen has also had projects in the housing area in recent years, including evaluation of social housing interventions and analysis of vulnerable neighbourhoods. Finally, she has been part of projects on the job market, e.g. projects on companies’ social involvement and young people's transition from school to employment.
